Are you asking How?
"Yes is the right question. The alternative to asking How? is saying Yes - not literally,
but as a symbol of our stance towards possibility" - Peter Block
Yes = Action
Leadership is, in many ways, centered around the act of bringing people together around a set of questions that allows your team to find their YES! Your YES is the vision that keeps your team focused and obsessed with creating powerful experiences for students! Are you obsessed with your team's Yes?
The right "Yes" questions, in the right room, at the right time, with the right people can generate powerful action for your team for months and years to come.
How = Inaction
However, far too often, it's easier for leaders, especially in government, to allow the conversations to quickly move to "how" questions. These questions lead to comparison, deficits, and fear. In turn, we further prolong inaction and maintain the status quo, even when we know it's in the best interest of our students to grow. Fortunately, we have leaders across Nelson County that are saying Yes! to the creating the future for our community. We are so grateful for your leadership!
Quarterly Backpack Planning = Yes Planning
In February, we shared this post Do you have a Yes plan? that ensures aligned and powerful action is occurring related to the 4Ps (Purpose, Priorities, Process, & Performance). Indeed, a powerful, authentic vision that brings to life the 4Ps can generate value and clarity beyond what exists currently. This is our job! How awesome of a responsibility as we look to Summer Backpack planning.
Are you leading a team with "How?" questions or "Yes!" questions?
